At Idé-Pro, we have many years of experience with sustainability and for the past six years, we have particularly focused on the energy and climate part of sustainability. For several years, we have mapped our climate impact and are now looking at what we can do to reduce it even further.
In 2016, we introduced energy management in connection with an external certification. With energy management, our focus on energy increased and when we built our plastic foundry in Glyngøre in 2019, we had already obtained a broad knowledge of energy management and energy consumption. Therefore, we were able to build it properly from the beginning and use e.g. zoned lighting and free cooling and we also recycle our energy from process to process.
Since 2021, we have reported our CO2 emissions and energy consumption to the international Carbon Disclosure Project, so that we can give customers and decision-makers insight into our efforts. In 2022, we have begun to seriously address the climate part of sustainability and have, among other things, worked with climate assessments, advising customers on material selection, and scrap reduction.
We map our climate impact based on Scopes 1 and 2, which includes our impact on the climate and the impact of the electricity we buy from outside. Scope 3 includes the climate impact caused by our customers and suppliers and is the most challenging scope to work with.
To ease our climate impact in scope 3, we will, to an even greater extent, advise our customers on material selection. The more people who choose sustainable materials, the greater the savings we can achieve. In our eyes, sustainability and business will always go hand in hand.
